Efren Rojas (he/they/él/elle) is a queer, Cuban-American, and neurodivergent Clinician here at The Alliance who provides affirming mental health support to LGBTQ+ youth, helping them navigate challenges related to identity, relationships, and well-being. Through individual, group, and family therapy, he strives to create a therapeutic space where healing is not just individual but also a step toward broader liberation. Efren takes great pride in holding space for LGBTQ youth to reclaim their innate power. Efren has been with The Alliance since 2025.
Efren believes that mental health care should be intersectional, affirming, and rooted in justice. He understands that LGBTQ+ youth navigate unique challenges shaped by systems of oppression, and he approaches his work through a feminist and Liberation Health lens. By addressing personal, cultural, and institutional factors that impact well-being, Efren helps youth build resilience, self-acceptance, and collective empowerment.
Efren has experience working with diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ folks, who have survived domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. In these settings, he provided case management, advocacy, and therapy, ensuring services were trauma-informed, evidence-based, and culturally inclusive. Trained in working with grief and loss, and trauma, Efren seeks to expand his clinical expertise to better serve his community ensuring access to quality care. During his time at FIU, Efren facilitated a LGBTQ+ Student Peer Support Group for Social Work students and was awarded the Dean’s Award of Excellence for BSSW Student in the Fall of 2023.
Efren holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from Florida International University, and is currently a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern working towards his licensure.
