Jahnee(they/she/he)
ChangeMakers Leader

Jahnee is a 20-year-old college sophomore at Florida International University. They are a Queer, Carribean anti-capitalist and abolitionist. As a nonbinary-genderfluid, unaccompanied youth, Jahnee brings knowledge rooted in their own experiences navigating diverse social systems of both the NW and SE United States. As a student studying Sociology and Women and Gender Studies, they hope to offer numerous viewpoints on queer and feminist theories. As a ChangeMakers Leader, Jahnee is excited to share space with other LGBTQ+ youth in South Florida, improve their research and public speaking skills, and stay current with county wide efforts for LGBTQ+ advocacy. Following the LGBTQ+ censorship performed by Ron Desantis and other FL state government officials, Jahnees’s areas of focus include mobilizing students against educational censorship taking place on topics spanning from comprehensive sexual education to labor movement studies, critical race theory, queer theory and leftist ideologies. Furthermore, drawing from their experience with housing instability, they are interested in highlighting the disproportionate effects of homelessness on the queer and trans community.
