ChangeMakers Leader

Kayla is a 15-year-old arts high school sophomore in Miami Gardens. As a queer Black trans woman, Kayla brings the perspective of these marginalized groups which allows her to advocate from a place of experience. She is an actor and dancer and possesses the confidence, courage, decision making, and problem-solving skills of a leader. She is intent on strengthening her patience and time management skills. As a ChangeMakers Leader, Kayla is excited to gain a greater sense of community, meet more LGBTQ+ youth in Miami, and learn how to lead more effectively while expanding her connections with other leaders, advocates, and professionals. Kayla’s areas of focus include raising awareness around LGBTQ+ issues in the Black community as well as gender inequality and climate activism.
