Keira (she/her)
ChangeMakers Leader

Keira is a 17-year-old high school senior in Homestead. As a White/Hispanic lesbian woman, and the Editor-In-Chief of her school's yearbook and newspaper, Keira has the skills to lead teams and concisely present information to help people understand her perspective. She has personal experience in being in unaccepting environments, coming from a conservative Christian school. In her journalism work she’s not only worked her way up, but has also helped others succeed and guided them in the process. As a ChangeMakers Leader, Keira is excited to gain experience working with people she doesn’t know very well, learning how to make a bigger impact on those around her, and widen her perspective on the issues in her community while spreading awareness to others. Keira’s areas of focus include education on political issues, such as the banning of works of literature and the "Don't Say Gay" laws. To combat this legislation she has set up 3 free library boxes around her town to promote literacy.
