Raul Machuca, PhD (he/him)
President
Dr. Machuca holds a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in Counselor Education from the University of New Orleans. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Qualified Supervisor for Clinical Mental Health and Marriage and Family Therapy interns in the state of Florida. Dr. Machuca completed extramural training in CBT at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia. He is a Certified Cognitive Therapist and a Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Machuca is a professor of counseling at Barry University. He is also the Associate Dean of Counseling and School Psychology in the College of Health and Wellness. In addition to his role as President of the Florida Counseling Association (2023-2024), Dr. Machuca has served as President of the Florida Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (FACES), and as Treasurer of the Florida Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (F-SAIGE). Dr. Machuca’s areas of research, teaching, and clinical interest include CBT, technology, counselor education, supervision, evidenced-based counseling practice, bilingual counseling and supervision, multicultural issues, gender/sexual and affectionally diverse issues, and resilience.
