Sangrae (he/him)
ChangeMakers Leader

Sangrae is a 17-year-old high school senior in Doral. As a South Korean cis gay male living in predominantly Hispanic communities, he brings valuable experience in building bridges between different cultural groups, navigating cultural displacement and adaptation, and understanding mental health challenges in immigrant communities. With strong empathy, cultural awareness, and the ability to organize and mobilize diverse groups, he is committed to creating spaces where others feel safe to be themselves. Recognizing the need for this safe space in his school, Sangrae founded and currently leads his school’s GSA.

As a ChangeMakers Leader, Sangrae is eager to gain tools for advocating effectively for marginalized communities, organizing and mobilizing diverse groups, and applying leadership techniques that embrace multiple cultural perspectives. His areas of focus include LGBTQ+ rights and acceptance (particularly in multicultural contexts), Asian representation and combating anti-Asian discrimination, mental health awareness (especially among immigrant and LGBTQ+ youth), and creating safe spaces for marginalized communities.
